Location

Beijing originally was occupied some 500,000 years ago, so it is a city with its fair share of history. The massive city extends across 50 miles, but has a very well-laid-out design with the impressive Forbidden City at its center. In modern times the city underwent a makeover fueled by the 2008 Olympic Games. With the newfound wealth of many Chinese, the leisure and entertainment industries are thriving with new restaurants and an abundance of shopping. Culturally, Beijing is rich with many of China’s most famous landmarks such as the Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square in the city itself. Beijing is no longer a gray capital but provides a colorful environment in which to study.

Cultural Immersion

Internships

Students participating in one of the Beijing semester programs have the option to undertake a part-time internship in conjunction with their academic studies. Students will be placed in an internship that matches their academic or personal interest needs as closely as possible. No matter the assigned internship, students consider the opportunity to immerse oneself into daily Chinese working life a highlight of the program.

Integrated Housing

Students will live in pre-arranged off-campus apartments within close proximity of their campus. The apartments are fully furnished and include internet and phone service. A feature of our program is integrated housing, with students sharing the apartments with local Chinese students to enhance their cultural immersion. On-campus housing is available upon request.
