Locations and Guided Travel

The entire world watched as Beijing, China played host to the spectacular 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Blending visual artistry and the essence of Chinese culture, Beijing proved that it is no longer the gray capital of years past, but rather a rich and vibrant environment in which to study. Founded some 3,000 years ago, this is a city with its fair share of stories and dramas. The massive city extends across 50 miles, and features the impressive Forbidden City at its center. Beijing is home to many of China’s most famous landmarks such as the Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square in the city itself. With the newfound wealth of many Chinese, the leisure and entertainment industries are thriving with chic restaurants popping up all over the city and an abundance of state of the art shopping complexes.

Broad in nature, this program features works focusing on Chinese history, religion, business practices, and the current political and social climate of the country. Fascinating readings supplement visits to Beijing industry centers and famous cultural landmarks that have made an impact on the city.

Ever wonder what the benefits of tai chi are? Find out with traditional exercises in the morning and perhaps a new ritual to start your days in China. No visit to China would be complete without a visit to the Great Wall and we make sure to get you there in a hurry. Enjoy an overnight stay and sunrise hike along an off-the-beaten path section of this amazing man-made wonder. Once you visit the Great Wall, you’ll be ready to embrace the greatness of China’s past, present and future. Top off the learning and exploration with a delicious Peking Duck dinner and a night of karaoke.

Join us in Summer 2010 and experience China’s magic for yourself!
