TEAN Direct Program

We recognize that a one-size-fits-all approach to study abroad programs does not work for many universities that have their own active study abroad programs. The Education Abroad Network has developed a suite of services to complement and expand the services provided by U.S. and Australian universities that operate direct programs, called TEAN Direct. Through TEAN Direct, we have unbundled the services embedded in our core program, thereby allowing universities to choose only those services they desire to complement their existing direct programs.

Examples of some of the types of university clients that might consider utilizing TEAN Direct services would include:

  • A U.S. university that has a large and growing direct program with 1 or 2 Australian university partners. Through TEAN Direct, the university can sub-contract on-site orientation, housing, and resident director services thereby enhancing the services provided to their students while simultaneously reducing administrative costs.
  • An Australian university seeking to increase the quality of housing and related support services that they provide to their U.S. direct partners.
  • A U.S university that wants access to on-the-ground residential director services to help site manage issues and generally assure the welfare of their students.

These are just a few examples of how TEAN Direct can assist you in enhancing the quality and expanding the reach of your existing programs. Please contact Chris Shepherd for additional information.

TEAN Direct Services

Through TEAN Direct, universities can obtain some or all of the following services to compliment an existing direct program.

General Support Services
These services extend the administrative and support services provided by both U.S. and overseas advisors and include: visa assistance and pre-departure support services; hosting an on-campus orientation, information and Q&A session prior to departure; access to discounted international airfares and travel planning assistance; airport pick-up services in host countries; and throughout the semester, on-going resident director support services.

Housing Services
Advisors indicate that obtaining safe, high-quality and convenient housing is one of the greatest challenges their students face upon arrival overseas. By utilizing our Housing Services, universities can obtain for their students the same guaranteed, pre-arranged and furnished housing we offer to our program participants. In addition, we will provide a customized enrollment pack for your students that includes: a description of the housing process, a housing preference and application form, an emergency procedures form, key contact information, maps of the community surrounding the host university, and more.

Orientation Services
Often, students in direct programs do not have the opportunity to participate in a formal orientation program upon arrival in their host country. Through TEAN Direct, your students would have the opportunity to join our Orientation Programs.

Benefits of TEAN Direct

TEAN Direct is a value-added approach that solves critical problems and adds key services without disrupting existing direct relationships. It is an ideal solution for universities that value a high level of service and program enrichment opportunities. Universities that utilize TEAN Direct note the following benefits:

  • Increased student preparedness through comprehensive pre-departure and on-going support services.
  • A significant reduction in administrative, logistical and planning burden that is currently shouldered by university personnel.
  • Obtaining a host country-based infrastructure (on a 100% variable cost basis) to site manage issues and generally assure student welfare.
  • Solves the chronic housing problem by delivering pre-arranged, leased and furnished housing in markets that are increasingly supply-constrained.
  • Delivers a high quality orientation program that expedites assimilation into a new environment and provides the student an important network for the coming semester.
  • Provides the opportunity to significantly expand an existing direct program without compromising services or increasing your administrative infrastructure.
