China Internship Testimonials

Nick Ramil, Gonzaga University

Working at AllBright Law Offices, Shanghai's largest private practice firm, significantly enhanced my study abroad experience.  Many students can say they studied abroad during their college years: few students can say they worked in foreign country during their time abroad.  Editing and polishing legal documents and contracts allowed me to see first hand what is necessary to enter the Chinese/foreign market, an extremely important knowledge to have if one hopes to do business in China/abroad.  Moreover, the wisdom you will gain from the lawyers who are willing to offer advice, from how to establish a company in China to proper Chinese table etiquette at a formal Chinese dinner, I will never forget.  As a student who is studying international studies and business, I could not think of a better way to become familiar with the international business world.

Brooke Perillo, Iowa State University

My internship experience was great! I was part of the International Marketing Team at TGI Projects. TGI Projects is an Architecture, Interior Design, and Construction firm. I got to learn about inter-cultural relations with in a business environment. I also got to see how the Chinese conduct their business. My job was to cold call to verify the interests of clients and then meet with the client personally. I dealt with clients such as GM!  My favorite part of the job was getting to know my colleagues. I am still very close with my boss. I even go out with her on the weekends! This internship also helped me to improve my Chinese speaking, since I was working in a Chinese environment!

I have been working at Cosmopolitan Beijing for the past four months as the assistant to the Executive Fashion Director. During the day I help with busy work, including typing documents on the computer or inputting information about a magazine page's settings. I also assisted with planning for events, including photo shoots, runway shows and store openings. Through this internship, I have learned a lot about fashion and marketing. Even though at times the language barrier was difficult to adjust to, it made me work harder at becoming better at my Chinese speaking ability. Doing my internship abroad with EAN was the best choice I could have made.

Jonathan Ung, The University of California, San Diego

My internship was one of the highlights of my time in China. My experience would have been so much different without it. I never would have been able to find an internship on my own and I loved the law firm I worked for. My co-workers became good friends and I felt I really experienced what it was like to live and work in China. I even got to experience home life as one of the lawyers of the firm paid me to tutor English to his children once a week. I am sad to be leaving, I will miss Shanghai and all my new friends. This has been an amazing experience.
Cathy Du, Iowa State University

My internship has helped me gain very valuable international work experience and meet interesting people from all over the world. I got to work on very cool projects, such as assisting in the production of a Shanghai fashion show. This experience has given me exposure to the Chinese business culture, and there's been enormous improvement in my Mandarin skills.
