Popular Southeast Asia Excursions

Education Abroad Network students studying in Thailand and Cambodia are in the heart of the massive Mekong River’s path. The 11th longest and 12th largest river in the world, the Mekong originates from the mountains in northwest China, then winds through or passes Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam before emptying into the South China Sea. A journey along the river takes you through many cultures, past lush mountains, rice paddies, beautiful waterfalls, impassable rapids, and broad expanses of water.  Possibilities for side trips or excursions are endless:

  • Cruise the majestic humpback karst formations found in Halong Bay, Vietnam, where local folklore meets stunning scenery.
  • Take part in the morning alms ritual in Luang Prabang as local monks receive their food rations for the day from local believers.
  • Dine al fresco along the shores of the South China Sea.
  • Brave the winding stalls of Bangkok's Chatuchak Market and put your bartering skills to the ultimate test.

The South East Asia Comparative Studies (SEACS) program also includes local excursions from each of its bases (Chiang Mai, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap).
