Brisbane Cultural Activities
Our local staff arrange various activities during the semester designed to help immerse you into the local culture. If you have a specific interest or hobby, your Resident Director will also be able to point you in the right direction. Below are examples of previous activities arranged for students.
The Great Aussie Barbie
No – we’re not talking about the doll you outgrew when you were 12. We’re talking about grilling meat, stir fries, corn, pumpkin, or whatever we desire! Free public BBQ areas are all over this country, usually in ideal locations in parks and by the beach. We take advantage and join the locals in one of their favorite past times.
While Brisbane is not on the beach, this perfect climate means the locals travel to nearby beaches for day trips. We head to the shore on a weekend to enjoy the crystal-clear water and picturesque sandy beaches.
Brisbanites enjoy their fabulous coffee, al fresco at the many hip cafes. We follow their lead and meet up for coffee and cake at various times during the semester. This is a great opportunity to catch up with your Resident Director and other students and swap stories.
