"I decided to apply to the University of Queensland, Sydney, and Melbourne for medical school. Being an American, I was unsure of the process and had many questions. I am very grateful that I was introduced to Helen Armitage of The Education Abroad Network. Immediately after introducing myself to Helen, she answered my questions and advised me how to strategize my application. As the application process continued she guided me as I tried to handle the acceptance deadlines of each school and assess the pros and cons of each institution. I owe much of the success of my applications to the prompt and thorough support that Helen provided. As a foreign applicant, I could not have done it without her!" - Travis Morgenstern

Graduate Degree Structure in Australia
Graduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certification
The Graduate Diploma is usually an intensive, one-semester to one-year course available for students that have already earned a Bachelor's Degree. The graduate diploma has no US equivalent, but can be used to meet pre-requisites for a graduate degree. This degree can also lead to a professional certification in certain fields. The Graduate Diploma offers an excellent opportunity for students looking for a short-term, international experience with a resulting qualitification.
The Master's Degree is similar in structure to the US but can take 1 - 2.5 years to complete. There are three types of Master's Degrees offered by our partner universities, the Master's by coursework, the Master's by research, and the Master's by coursework and research. The Master's by coursework is a degree that requires the student to attend classes and complete assignments and projects. Students are assessed by written examination and assignments. The Master's by research consists of a research project and written thesis. There is no coursework involved. The Master's by coursework and research consists of one year of coursework and a research project related to your area of interest.
The Ph.D. is a 3 - 5 year program of self-directed research that culminates in a major dissertation. A sound research topic and short thesis are required as part of the admissions application.
The Australian academic year runs from February to November, with the first semester held from February to June and the second semester held from July to November. Many graduate programs in Australia allow students to start in the February or July semester.

Below are a a list of general guidelines and admissions requirements for our Australian partner universities.
If applying for a graduate degree in an academic area that is very specialized, such as architecture, social work, etc., you must have earned a Bachelor's degree in that field.
In most cases, you will not be required to take the GRE or GMAT.
GPA requirements range by university and are typically a 2.75 - 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Some universities do not require a minimum GPA for admission. This does not mean that it is easier to gain admission into these universities. In fact, in some cases, they may be more competitive. Each piece of your application will be assessed for admission, including your GPA.
TEAN Graduate Degree Student Reviews
"Working with The Education Abroad Network has been one of the best decisions I made. They are honest, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. I originally contacted them because I was interested in pursuing a second Bachelor’s Degree, but their familiarity and knowledge with different degree programs found me applying for a 3 year Master’s Program instead, where my science background could be used to work towards a Master’s in Engineering. My TEAN contact answered all my questions and the correct application was provided along with a list of necessary documents that I needed to submit with my application." - Eliza Stanford
"After studying abroad at Bond University, I knew I wanted to return to Australia for my Master's Degree. Having the previous experience of working with TEAN and Helen Armitage, I decided to contact her about applying to UQ. Helen was with me through every step of the way; she made the process very easy, answered every question that I could think of, and keep me up-to-date. Even though The Education Abroad Network's head office is located in Chicago, and Helen resides in Australia, it seemed like she was right next to me. Overall working the TEAN made me feel comfortable about my decision. I would highly recommend TEAN's services to anyone applying to school in Australia. Thank you Helen, and to the whole TEAN team!" - Julian Golec
