Intern in Australia Application Information

All Australia Internship Program applicants are expected to have an appropriate academic background related to the internship placement duties. The amount of required coursework will vary for each placement.  Students who have completed at least two years of university work and have a grade point average above 2.5 will be eligible for most internships. Other students are encouraged to apply as many other non-academic factors are taken into consideration.

The Application

TEAN uses an online application to gather the information of potential internship participants, which our consultants and staff then use to secure the customized placements.  Students and recent graduates interested in applying to TEAN's Internship program are asked to:

  • Thoroughly review all information about the Internship Program on our website before applying and call TEAN with any questions before submitting your application
  • Create a Virtual Application via TEAN's website:
  • Complete the first three (3) Sections of Part 1 of the VAM.
  • Apply to the Internship program of choice via the Search/Apply for Programs tab of the Virtual Application. For those interested in an Australian Internship, please select "Australia Internship" for the proper term (i.e.: "Spring 2016")
  • Submit TEAN Internship Application
  • Once you have submitted your application, a program manager will be in touch with you regarding the next steps, which will include submitting an official copy of your transcript, your resume and cover letter or personal tailored toward your industry of choice, and the $400 deposit.

Placement Timing

Because of necessary lead-time, we require applications to be submitted at least 2-3 months prior to the program start date. The actual lead-time to source internships can vary from 1 - 3 months or more, depending on a variety of factors for each applicant.

Placement Details

Receiving an internship offer in Australia is an exciting time. Once your internship placement is finalized, TEAN will send you a confirmation letter, which will provide you with details regarding your placement (e.g. company name, address and contact details). We will also provide information on working in Australia, business protocol and information on applying for your required internship visa.

Upon acceptance into the program, TEAN will provide interns with a Predeparture Guide and specific information on many topics including:

  • Internship placement protocol and options
  • Credit transfer procedures (if applicable)
  • Visa (immigration) procedures and applications
  • Housing and travel options

The Enrollment process will continue with the following steps:

  • Credit transfer finalized with academic advisor
  • Intern electronically submits visa application to Australian Embassy (guidance provided by TEAN).
  • Arrange medical insurance
  • Final payment due once internship is finalized
  • Pre-departure and housing information sent to student 2-4 weeks before intended start date
  • Travel plans finalized (includes flight and other independent travel options)

Please note that the order may vary depending on a variety of factors, including internship type, date of application, and location.)
