University of Newcastle — Newcastle, Australia

As one of Australia’s most naturally beautiful campuses, the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan campus is a great fit for students seeking the perks of a mid-sized city, amazing opportunities for outdoor exploration, and an engaging learning environment. Newcastle is located just two hours from Sydney and a short distance from the Lower Hunter Valley, a region famous for its wineries and sprawling national parks. Participants will challenge themselves in the classroom while benefiting from a wide variety of course offerings and exploring a city that features five kilometers of waterfront attractions. Prior to settling in, get a taste of Sydney with TEAN's five-day Orientation Program and continue to receive support from your Resident Director throughout the semester. Even though it may be hard to tear yourself away from the laidback lifestyle of Newcastle, you may also want to consider seeking adventure elsewhere with one of our semester break trips to exotic Thailand or the South Island of New Zealand.

Student Review of the University of Newcastle

When I studied at the Callaghan campus I was in shock of how cool the campus was. I was used to several identical buildings all grouped along the same road, but at Callaghan the buildings are beautifully placed a distance from each other and decorated inbetween with natural bushland. The campus also has a great feel for student life; there was a buzz of activity at all areas, and student participation in activities was highly encouraged. It made meeting people all the more fun and easy!
