Program Details
Housing
You will live and work in the heart of Singapore, accessing housing and facilities designed for catering to entrepreneurs, remote workers, and digital nomads. Housing will be a hostel or hotel, rated 4-stars or above on TripAdvisor. Twin-share is the default, but single accommodation upgrades are available on request.
TEAN Staff
Our team works with you from start to finish through the study abroad process. Our staff will help guide you through the application process to go abroad, then upon arrival in Singapore, you will meet our program leaders who will be your support in-country. Our staff is readily available and able to assist you with any academic, social, or cultural questions or issues that you may face.

Host Organization
HEX is an Australian-based team working around the world and around the clock. They have run 40+ programs to San Francisco, Singapore, Tel Aviv, and Melbourne, as well as virtual internships, challenges and cohort-based programs. HEX exists to launch epic careers and unlock talent to create a new generation of leaders. Their team works with tech giants like Culture Amp, Google, and Zendesk and startup partners like Draper Startup House, Pause Fest, and TechCrunch.

Overview
To apply for the program, you are encouraged to have an early-stage business idea or concept.
Week 1
Learn about why so many tech founders choose Singapore as their home base, and learn the inner workings of Asian business culture. The Hex team will guide you through practical workshops and mentor sessions as you move through the ideation process and exploratory phase – including design thinking, leadership, market validation, and public speaking skills.

Week 2

It’s recently opened a new extension that boasts a coastal boardwark and mid-canopy walk, both which let you get much closer to a host of critters, including monitor lizards, mudskippers, herons, horseshoe crabs and lots of other creepy crawlies.

Vietnam: Healthcare in Developing Economies
Vietnam is one of the most dynamic economies in the world and one of the few countries whose economy grew in 2020. Over the past 30 years, health outcomes have improved alongside the rising standards of living but still difficulties exist. Spend nine days learning first-hand about the past, present, and future of Vietnam’s healthcare system in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. This program is perfect for community college students looking to build their resume and explore interests in healthcare and global health issues. Students will visit private clinics, treatment centers, hospitals, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and explore the surrounding region.

Esports in Seoul
Become fully immersed in Korea’s esports scene and receive expert instruction from professional esports players and coaches. This two-week program partners with Gen.G, a leading esports organization, to provide an inside look into the esports industry in Korea. Learn techniques for League of Legends, Fortnite, NBA 2K, CSGO, PUBG, and Valorant and participate in an industry project to show off your skills.

Esports in Seoul, Summer Add-On

This two-week program partners with Gen.G, a leading esports organization, to provide an inside look into the esports industry in Korea. Participants can add this program onto any of our summer programs in Seoul.

Summer in Japan
Live and study in Japan for the summer while surrounding yourself in the country’s unique culture. This four-week summer program features private housing and expert instruction from the J.F. Oberlin University, located in Tokyo’s Machida suburb. Enjoy a range of engaging cultural activities, excursions, and even overnight trips, all included in the program price. This program is great for Global Studies, International Relations, Visual and Performing Arts, Japanese Language, and East Asian Studies majors. Outside of class, you can take advantage of being close to the center of Tokyo (but with a lower cost of living!) and practice speaking and interacting with the local community on a daily basis.

Hanyang Summer School
Study in Seoul at the largest international summer school program in South Korea at the respected Hanyang University. As one of the country’s leading research institutions offering a wide range of courses in English, particularly in STEM, Hanyang University welcomes around 2,000 students from around the world every summer. Choose two or three classes in the fields of your choice while also being introduced to the contemporary South Korean culture through included excursions and activities. Throughout it all, you’ll also receive beginning-to-end support from resident TEAN staff, accommodation and more to make the most of your summer in Seoul!

Summer in Busan
Spend the summer studying Korean language and culture in South Korea’s second-largest city, Busan. With beaches, mountains and urban areas, Busan boasts a little bit of everything, including one of the top 100 universities in Asia, Pusan National University (PNU). Choose to stay either three weeks or five weeks in an engaging Korean studies class learning the language as well as about the country’s history and culture. (Students studying for five weeks choose an additional elective course as well.) Take class Monday through Thursday, then head out on organized field trips on Friday and over the weekend for a thoroughly immersive learning experience.

Environmental Conservation in Southeast Asia
Spend three weeks in northern Thailand exploring Southeast Asia’s challenges and efforts related to biodiversity conservation through in-class lectures, hands-on fieldwork, research studies, and service-learning projects with an NGO focusing on tree ecology and elephant conservation. Incorporating elements of conservation biology, biodiversity studies, sustainability science and more, the immersive course begins with a week in the charming town of Chiang Mai before moving to the rural mountain village of Pai for two weeks of fieldwork. In addition to the course content, you’ll work closely with the host NGO to conduct a tree ecology research project and elephant observational study all while learning more about sustainable living and conservation.
