Day 1: Arrival in Christchurch
Tonight’s accommodation is included in the excursion cost but there are no set activities – you are free to explore Christchurch on your own this evening. Just remember, you need to wake up early the next day to head out on your adventure across the South Island!
Day 2: Christchurch – Fox Glacier
Today we’ll take a long bus ride through some stunning scenery! The tiny township of Fox Glacier is our destination tonight. After dinner, we will walk along the nearby rainforest in search of glowworms that are hidden in the undergrowth.
Day 3: Fox Glacier to Queenstown
Today is glacier day. The mighty Fox Glacier is the largest and longest of the magnificent West Coast glaciers. Jump in a helicopter and soar to the peak of Fox Glacier to witness the majesty of the glacier from high above before landing in the snowfield at the top for the most incredible scenery and perfect photos. We’ll also see the unique transition from rainforest to ice as we fly to the glacier. After landing and walking on the glacier, descend to Fox village, jump back on the bus and head to Queenstown.
*If the heli hike is cancelled due to weather conditions, we will still be able to go see the Fox Glacier and we’ll replace the heli tour with an added adventure activity in Queenstown.
Day 4: Queenstown
It’s our first day in Queenstown – get ready for an adrenaline rush! In the morning, head out on a thrilling jet boat ride through the Shotover Canyons and then to the city’s iconic gondola for breathtaking views followed by some serious fun on a luge track! Finally, conclude the day with a traditional Maori Haka dance performance.
Day 5: Queenstown Free Day
Today is yours to explore as we recognize you might want to choose your own adventure. Your guide can assist you in organizing the Queenstown activities you’d like to try.
Day 6: Milford Sound
Departing Queenstown in the morning, travel to one of New Zealand’s most famous destinations: Milford Sound. You won’t want to nap on this journey – it’s a stunning drive as you watch the landscape change from farmland to mountains, fiords and glacier-carved valleys. Once in Milford Sound, head out on a cruise where it’s very common to see dolphins, seals and penguins. After the cruise ends, drive back to Queenstown for the night.
Day 7: Queenstown – Lake Tekapo/Christchurch
Today, we embark on the final leg of the journey, so when we pack up the bus we’ll be saying our farewells to Queenstown. After all the excitement, it’s time to kick back and relax surrounded by breathtaking mountains and a great view of Lake Tekapo. We head north through McKenzie Country and alpine lakes across the Canterbury Plains before arriving at Morelea Farm for a sheep shearing display and sheep dog demonstration. Christchurch is our final destination today for one last night before flying out in the morning.
